Breathwork in Barcelona
by the sea, in Gavà Mar.
EMME runs group and private breathwork sessions in Gavà Mar, on the coast just south of Barcelona. They are guided by Melissa Sapmaz and Emmanuel Desormeaux, certified breathwork facilitators trained in SOMA, Holosomatic and 9D Breathwork, with music shaped for the room.
What is breathwork?
Breathwork is the umbrella name for practices that use conscious, guided breathing to change your physical and emotional state. Some techniques slow the breath down to calm the nervous system; others are faster and more activating, and can bring up sensations, emotions and insights.
In our words: breathwork creates a direct path beneath the noise of the mind and into the felt experience of the body. Some sessions are gentle and regulating. Others are deeper, more activating and expressive.
To try simple techniques on your own first, our Breath Bank has twelve of them with a guided timer, from 4-7-8 breathing to cardiac coherence.

What happens in an EMME breathwork session?
Every EMME session is composed as one continuous arc: breath opens the door, movement awakens energy, music shapes the emotional journey and the group brings warmth and trust. Each element prepares the body for what follows.
Depending on the intention of the session, it may include:
- conscious breathing, gentle or activating
- active meditation and movement, sometimes shaking
- live or composed electronic music by Emmanuel, in direct relationship with the room
- somatic release, journaling or a short ritual
- time for integration at the end, which matters as much as the activation

Is breathwork safe?
Gentle, slow techniques are suitable for most people. Faster, more intense breathwork is not recommended without medical advice if you are pregnant or have a history of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, severe asthma, epilepsy or a severe psychiatric condition.
Tell us about any health condition when you contact us, and always consult a qualified healthcare professional if in doubt. Breathwork is a practice of self-regulation and exploration; it does not replace medical or psychological treatment.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need any experience to join a breathwork session?
No. You don't need to know any technique beforehand: every step is guided, and your choices remain yours throughout the journey.
Where do the sessions take place?
In Gavà Mar, in the Barcelona area, Catalonia. The next date and the exact place are shared when you contact us on WhatsApp.
Can breathwork be intense?
It can. Some sessions are gentle and regulating, others deeper and more expressive. We work with titration rather than forced catharsis: depth begins with trust.
What is the difference between breathwork and SUCO?
Breathwork uses the breath as the main doorway. SUCO is an active meditation in movement, with wireless headphones and music. Many EMME journeys combine both.
